This painting was inspired by a bouncy row on the East coast of Scotland. Painted from the cox's perspective - the place where you're responsible for everyone in the boat, while the waves make their own decisions.

There's effort in it and resilience and the particular aliveness that comes from being fully committed to something physical and uncertain. The water in the foreground is restless; the horizon holds stillness and the crew remain strong and together.

It's a big painting and it changes - quieter in the morning, more insistent in the afternoon light.

    GICLEE PRINTS

A giclee (pronounced ji-clay) print is a high quality art print which is printed on archival paper using lightfast inks. I use an excellent local small business to print my work.

    • Bringing Joy Back Into the Everyday

Marie told me she often looked at the paintings in her home and thought how lucky she was to have them. She said they “add so much” to her world. For her, the paintings are not just objects, but daily reminders to notice beauty and let joy back into her busy life.
